About Us
The idea of founding Ístækni arose in the autumn of 2023. Ístækni ehf was founded by former employees of 3xTechnology along with other interested individuals. The group behind Ístækni wants to preserve the knowledge and experience that exists in Ísafjörður in making and manufacturing equipment for the seafood and food industry. Shortly after the idea of founding Ístækni came up, it was decided to invite Vélsmiðjan Þristur in Ísafjörður to be part of Ístækni. Vélsmiðjan Þristur has served the marine industry in the Westfjords for 40 years and has built a strong reputation as an excellent service company. At the turn of the last year, Vélsmiðjan Þristur became part of Ístækni ehf. Ístækni ehf employs around 23 people in manufacturing and services, and operations are mainly divided into a turning workshop, technical department, electrical equipment department, manufacturing department, service department and sales department. Ístækni has excellent solutions related to automation in tub systems, cooling, thawing, pumping and transport of goods for processing plants, as well as solutions for between-deck systems on vessels. Ístækni wants to uphold the values of delivering the best results for the customer, producing quality manufactured goods and providing excellent service.
Our History
Þristur founded with the aim of servicing the seafood industry in the Westfjords.
3X Stál founded. Initially, the company's activities were based on the design and manufacture of stainless steel equipment and services to seafood companies, particularly shrimp factories, in Ísafjörður and the surrounding area.
3X Stál becomes 3X Technology with increased focus on foreign markets, particularly Europe.
Skaginn acquires 3X Technology.
Skaginn3X founded.
BAADER acquires Skaginn3X.
Ístækni ehf has been established and acquires the manufacturing equipment, data, and product portfolio of 3X Technology from Skaginn3X. Ístækni formally commenced operations on December 1, 2023.
Þristur becomes part of Ístækni on 1 January. Ístækni makes its first foreign sale on 15 April. Sales and service office opened in the Sjávarklasinn building in Reykjavík on 1 August.
